Floral Challenge

Are you confident making floral arrangement on short notice? Creative? Able to use items you have available? Work well under time limits and aren't distracted by observers? Then you’re a candidate for our "Floral Challenge!"

We invite you to enter the "Floral Challenge" contest at the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Home & Flower Show .

Three contestants have 20 minutes to complete a floral arrangement. Flowers, greenery and other items are provided,
and the contestants can not see these items beforehand. Contestants can bring their personal scissors, knives or cutting tools.

A theme is assigned to each class and arrangers are expected to construct an arrangement consistent with the theme.

Contests will be held each day of the show. Contestants can enter any of the following three groups:
1. Beginners
2. Garden Club or eExperienced floral designers
3. Professional floral designers

Participants are selected on a first-call basis. Call 393-4617 and leave your name, and telephone number. We will contact you with the competition times.

A "Design By Committee" class will be held on Sunday afternoon. Three groups of four team members each will construct an arrangement within an allotted time frame, BUT this contest will have a surprise "turn" to it!
At the conclusion of each contest, the arrangements will be auctioned off. Proceeds will go toward a horticultural scholarship fund.

This contest will be fun for both participants and audience alike.
